Terapia Familiar

En terapia familiar se trata a la familia en su conjunto, aunque sea solo uno de los miembros el que está presentando mayor necesidad de terapia.

Terapia de Pareja

La pareja crea un vínculo emocional muy importante, pero también se pueden generar conflictos y malestares.

Terapia Individual

En algún momento de la vida puede que sientas que las situaciones no te permiten tener un funcionamiento normal en tu vida diaria.

Crisis de Identidad

Una crisis de identidad es un periodo en el que la persona experimenta profundas dudas sobre sí misma, dudas de la existencia acompañadas de sentimientos de vacío y de soledad.

Identidad sexual/ Sexualidad

Más allá de todo, un problema sexual es aquello que nos aleja del bienestar íntimo, con nuestro cuerpo y el de otros u otras.

Identidad Cultural

El concepto de identidad cultural nos ha permitido pensar cómo es que llegamos a reconocernos como sujetos competentes de unas dinámicas y relaciones.

¿Cómo trabajaremos?

En terapia trabajaremos desde un enfoque integrador, en el cual abarco una variedad de metodologías con el fin de brindarte las herramientas que mejor se adapten a tus necesidades.

Terapia Sistémica

La terapia sistémica parte de la idea de que cada uno formamos parte de un determinado número de sistemas. Por ejemplo, una persona formaría parte de diferentes sistemas como, por ejemplo, la familia, la educación, las organizaciones, etc.

Terapia basada en Mindfulness

El Mindfulness permite reconocer lo que está sucediendo mientras está sucediendo, aceptando activamente el fluir de la experiencia tal cual se está dando. Así es que, aunque experimentemos algo desagradable (por cierto algo inevitable en la medida en que estemos vivos), podremos ahorrarnos el sufrimiento añadido de tener que lograr que aquello desagradable desaparezca. Quedarse solo con lo que experimentamos sin agregar nada más es lo que la práctica de mindfulness permite.

Terapia Cognitivo Conductural

La terapia cognitiva conductual es un tipo frecuente de terapia del habla (psicoterapia). Trabajas con un asesor de salud mental (psicoterapeuta o terapeuta) de forma estructurada, asistiendo a una cantidad limitada de sesiones. La terapia cognitiva conductual te ayuda a tomar conciencia de pensamientos imprecisos o negativos para que puedas visualizar situaciones exigentes con mayor claridad y responder a ellas de forma más efectiva.

Terapia basada en la Autocompasión

La terapia centrada en la compasión (usaremos “CFT,” por sus siglas en inglés, y para evitar confundirla con la terapia cognitivo conductual) ayuda a aquellos que luchan con la vergüenza y la autocrítica que pueden resultar de experiencias tempranas de abuso o negligencia

Terapia de aceptación y compromiso

El objetivo de la terapia de aceptación y compromiso es eliminar la rigidez psicológica para lo que emplea algunos procedimientos básicos como la aceptación, estar en el presente, el desarrollo y el compromiso con los valores propios, el descubrimiento del yo como contexto y la desactivación del pensamiento

I made it to the last prompt! #nextchapter. I al I made it to the last prompt! #nextchapter. 

I also spent a lot of time writing and rewriting this post. 

There are so many next chapters in my life to talk about!

✨Building my brand 
✨Creating my website
✨My family coming to visit
✨Getting married
✨Back to my pilates routine
✨Coffee detox for a month 

I’ll be sharing a bit more about each of these in the months to come, but I also wanted to share that: 

👩🏽‍🏫 Over the next year, I’m delving more deeply into sex therapy and sex education!

That doesn’t mean I’ll stop doing what I’m doing now- I’ll still be seeing individuals, couples and families in a therapy and counseling setting.

But ever since I finished my first human sexuality class, I knew I wanted to delve into sexuality and sex therapy. 

It has taken me 15 years to shift gears, but I hope this serves as a reminder to everyone reading, that it’s never too late to course correct and carve out a “next chapter” for yourself!

❤️This is something many of us who live abroad feel often I think, whether we have a word for it in our language or not. 

❤️It represents an absence. A yearning. It’s a deep emotional state of nostalgic or profound melancholic longing for something or someone that one cares for and/or loves. 

📚When I was little my mom created a tradition of reading us a story every night.

📚This book in particular, Gypsy Folk Tales by Diane Tong, had us captivated.

📚This book, which I’m holding on to to read to my own children when they’re old enough, brings me that feeling of saudade.

And while there is a glimmer hope and things are improving, there is a lot of residual hurt that might arise as we move forward.

Th arrival of the coronavirus has meant a lot of difficult situations for many people.

So honestly, I’m #inspired by you.

Yes, you. 

All of you reading this and those who aren’t.

Inspired by you who are in this lived experience.

Inspired by you who lost loved ones.

Inspired by you who lost your jobs.

Inspired by you who postponed plans.

Inspired by you who weren’t able to see loved ones.

Inspired by you who went through a breakup.

Inspired by you who went through a separation or divorce.

I’m inspired by you who have been hit financially.

I’m inspired by my clients, who have shown up for themselves in moments of hardship and have grown and healed in the process.

I’m inspired by all of the therapists, coaches and mental health professionals who have been holding space for all of this hurt and pain while perhaps having a difficult time themselves.

I’m inspired by the resilience that I have seen in each of you.

I’m inspired by the courage with which you have faced and continue to face each day’s challenges.

🧩 But what to write about regarding mental health for the #MayontheMove2021 challenge?

🧩I would be lying if I said I wasn’t feeling a teeny tiny bit of pressure (self-imposed, of course!)

🧩So I’m going to keep it simple (I think)

🧩I’d like to talk to you about the therapeutic alliance, or therapeutic relationship.

🧩The therapeutic alliance refers to the bond between client and therapist and their mutual agreement regarding the structure and goals of therapy.

🧩In counseling and psychotherapy it is one of the most important tools for achieving positive change in the lives of clients. 

🧩While most graduate training covers how to create a therapeutic alliance, in my opinion, it is crucial for the mental health professional that you are working with to be a good fit for you. 

🧩And only you decide what a good fit for you is. 

🧩I’ve had therapists who were a great fit for me and others that were not so much. 

🧩I’ve been a great fit as a therapist for some clients and others not so much. 

🧩Either way, you can see and feel the difference.

🧩There are many ways to take care of your mental health. A lot of them have nothing to do with therapy.

🧩But if you do feel it would be helpful to work with a therapist, above all, make sure you find someone who you feel is a good fit.

💓So today I wanted to talk about one of the most beneficial forms of pleasure- self-pleasure! 

🎆May 28th is International Masturbation Day, which has turned May into Masturbation Awareness Month.

🎆So, what’s there to celebrate?

🎆For starters, when you self-pleasure, you release adrenaline, oxytocin, endorphins and serotonin. 

💓That hormonal release is part of what can lead to these common benefits to masturbation:
✔️relieves stress
✔️sleep better
✔️boost your mood
✔️Increase sexual and physical confidence
✔️relax
✔️feel pleasure
✔️relieve cramps
✔️release sexual tension
✔️have better sex
✔️deeper understanding of your wants and needs

💕Masturbation can also be incorporated amongst couples may to explore different desires or avoid pregnancy.

💕Self-pleasuring can also helps you prevent sexually transmitted infections (STIs)

💃🏽I got some really good news this weekend, 💃🏽I got some really good news this weekend, which gave the urge to do some celebratory dancing! (I’ll tell you about what got me dancing next week)

💃🏽So of course when I thought about #recommended, what came to mind was: music to dance to!

💃🏽Dancing is one of my all time favorite activities, whether it’s to get my heart pumping, go out with friends, incorporate some self-care or learn a new step.
