Hi there! My name is Sámar Khalife Iglesias, licensed psychologist. Using an integrative approach, I offer individual, couples and family therapy, to clients with diverse multicultural backgrounds. I specialize in cultural identity as well as sexuality.
I was born in Houston, Texas, United States, to a Puerto Rican mother and a Lebanese father. I am part of a large, blended and multilingual family, and I currently live in Madrid.
In my free time I like to read, dance, sing, learn, travel, cook, and any excuse is good to buy myself a bouquet of flowers (yes, To me, from me!). I meditate when I can, I was not blessed with a green thumb, and I’d rather go to the beach a thousand times over doing paperwork, but sometimes that’s just the way the cookie crumbles!
I started my professional training with a degree in Theater and while I was there, I took a psychology class that turned my career upside down. It became pretty clear to me that I had to pursue Psychology.
What I like the most about being a psychologist is being present in the life story of each person I work with, witnessing their growth and supporting them with tools to continue their journey.
I work with multicultural and diverse individuals, couples, and families, in both English and Spanish. (And in Spanglish when necessary 😊).
Some of my areas of expertise in therapy are: grief, racism, trauma, cultural adaptation, life transitions, identity issues, as well as relationships, sexuality and complex family situations.
